LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS – A CALL TO ACTION FOR MUSLIMS

Asalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah

Brothers and Sisters,

We are at a crucial moment in South Africa’s journey and it’s time for Muslims to play a meaningful, structured and impactful role in local government. The model is clea and it works.

Take Lenasia as a shining example. There, the community rallied behind Imran Moosa, a humble social activist who ran under the Al Jamah ticket. He didn’t chase positions or titles, he served. From answering calls at 3am to helping the elderly without lights or water, he did the basics right. Today, he is not only respected, he’s an MP in Parliament. Al Jama’h now has two seats in Parliament and it started with local service.

Now imagine this model replicated across South Africa:

 • Roshnee and its surrounding townships

 • Lenasia South, Azadville, Zinniaville,Laudium, Ermelo

 • Suburbs in Durban, areas in Polokwane, Cape Town and beyond

Everywhere there is a Muslim community surrounded by townships, we support a candidate, help them serve all communities, especially the most vulnerable: the aged, the poor the forgotten. This is true dawah in action.

It’s a franchise model:

Serve → Build Trust → Win Local → Scale Up.

By 2029, if we do this right, we can secure 9 to 10 seats in Parliament. We become kingmakers, not for ego or power, but to uplift communities, influence policy and protect our values.

This is not just politics, this is purposeful leadership.

Let’s rise with strategy, sincerity and service.

Wasalaam
