Acting on a high court order, two houses and one structure were demolished in Lenasia Ext 13. It was a victory for many law-abiding citizens calling for law enforcement to intensify the fight against land grabbing. Some call for the government to act upon illegal land invaders, while others call for the owners of unoccupied stands to use them. Ward 9 councillor, Imraan Moosa, said as a human being he sympathise with the victims. However, he is adamant that law has to take its course. He took the opportunity to explain to community members the importance of upholding the law.
Attorney Suhail Manga thanked Cllr Moosa and law enforcement agencies. He too emphasised the importance of the rule of law. Attorney Manga said, “The law of the land always prevails. Our message goes out: please refrain from unlawfully occupying the land. The court order was granted and executed by the South Gauteng High Court of Johannesburg.”
